Italian-French mathematician. Comte Louis Lagrange was born in Turin. He became one of the most influential French mathematicians and physicists of his time. His work mostly concerned analysis, algebra, mechanics, celestial mechanics, etc. He also headed the Commission in charge of establishing the metric system in the 1790s.
